The best-selling novel, The Shack, by Wm. Paul Young, has been described as "spiritually profound, theologically enlightening, and life-impacting." Here's what some of St. Mark's members are saying about it...
"The book restored my passion for God and deepened my understanding of what it means to be in a personal relationship with Jesus." -Emily Wellnitz
"I just finished reading The Shack and I am bursting. There are so many things I want to discuss about this book!" -Tammy Whitlow
"Wow! It took me 70 years, but after reading this book I finally understand what it means to be in a relationship with God." -Allen Koepke
"As I read this book I laughed freely, cried deeply and experienced an overwhelming sense of God's love and presence in my life. I strongly recommend that you read it." -Pastor Jonathan
As interesting as The Shack is, however, God's Word remains our ultimate guide for knowing God. At St. Mark's we want to ground everything we do in the authority of God's Word. That is why we are titling this series The Shack and the Truths of Scripture.
Each Sunday during this six-week series we'll seek Biblical answers to some of life’s most difficult questions touched upon in The Shack...
· Why do bad things happen to good people?
· What will Heaven be like?
· How do I get over my guilt?
· What do I really believe about the Trinity?
· Will I ever be able to forgive him/her?
· Help me understand the Holy Spirit!
Since word of the book is spreading like wildfire and is being read by Christians and non-Christians alike we also believe this series will be a great opportunity to reach out to our community with the truth and love of the Gospel.
We encourage you to purchase a copy of the book
and read it before the series begins on June 28.
Books are available for $10 at the North Information Center on Sunday mornings or in the office during the week. You can also purchase the books at the Lemstone/Parable bookstores here in Cedar Rapids.
If you would like to discuss The Shack in more detail within a small group and do not belong to one, contact Louanne Neville for more information.

You may also want to consider giving a copy to a friend and inviting him or her to join us here at St. Mark's as we begin our journey to... The Shack.
