Local Missions Opportunities

Summer 2010

Community Volunteer Opportunities

Marion Cares is a local ministry that seeks to  seeks to provide a safe place for children to grow self-confidence through academic, recreation, moral guidance, and family enrichment. Some of the great programs offered by Marion Cares include:

F.L.Y. Feeding Lunch to Youth. FLY ministers to students who rely on hot lunch programs at their schools. For some students, those are the only meals they get. On days when there is no school, there may be no food for them. You can help by delivering lunches to area location, preparing food, assisting with clean up, or donating plastic grocery bags. Contact the FLY Team at fly@fumcmarion.org or visit the website.

SOAR is an educational program which uses crafts, math games, reading, writing, field trips, and games to reduce summer learning loss. Interact with the students in a safe, enriching manner to strengthen academic skills and encourage creativity. Volunteer at various area locations on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays through June--August. For more information, contact Marion Cares at intern@marioncares.org.

Txt Time is a program focused on sharing the message of Good News through the love of Christ in various activities. Volunteer to provide safe and loving lessons to the children at various Marion sites. Lessons include Bible study, crafts, games, and related activities. For information, contact Marion Cares at intern@marioncares.org.
